And make sure that all safe are familiar with the policies and also make sure that all the policies in place meet all needs.

Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
PURPOSE
To ensure that everybody has access to immediate first aid care in the workplace
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
That all first aid boxes are kept supplied, and all staff know who the first aiders are by displaying their names on the staff notice board. And all training kept up to date.

Mental Health Act
PURPOSE
This act allows compulsory action to be taken, where necessary, to ensure that people with mental disorders get the care and treatment they need for their own health or safety or for the protection of other people.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Make sure that all staff are aware of this act, training given for them to understand the reason for this act.

Electricity at Work Regulation 1989
PURPOSE
To minimise the risk due to electricity in the workplace
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety checks to be maintained on a regular basis, PAT testing done yearly. All faults reported immediately, maintenance done on a regular basis
Food Safety Act 1990
Food Hygiene Regulations 2006
PURPOSE
To minimise the risk due to food handling in the workplace

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
High standard of personal hygiene at all times
All hazards are controlled and identified
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR)
PURPOSE
To ensure that moving and handling within the workplace is done safely

Full training for all staff on a regular basis in moving and handling protocols
Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
PURPOSE
To minimise the risk due to working conditions in the workplace
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Report any faults to the designated supplier, and that regular servicing is kept up to date for the heating, lighting, sanitation and building work kept to a high standard
Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 (PPE)
PURPOSE
To minimise the risk of cross-infection in the workplace
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Full training on infection control on a regular basis for all staff, so they are clear about all aspects of cross infection
Make sure that PPE is available at all times
Reporting on Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR)
PURPOSE
Ensure that procedures are in place for the reporting of injury and illness to the HSE or local authority where appropriate

To maintain that staff are aware of the policy and the policy is kept up to date and that incident accident forms are available at all times, and also ensure that that staff are aware of where they are kept
Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA)
PURPOSE
Ensure that access and exits to the workplace are safe for those with disabilities in the event of the need to evacuate the premises

Make sure that the staff and visitors are aware of the policy and make sure that the premises are updated
Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)4
PURPOSE
Risks due to the use of equipment must be minimised
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
All staff are fully trained in the use of all equipment, and re-training on a regular basis for the safety of staff and service user. All maintenance and upkeep of equipment done on a regular basis
Data Protection Act 1998
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR)
PURPOSE
Ensure that personal information is kept private and safe
Carry out risk assessments to minimise any risks to safety
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Make sure that staff are aware of the policy on confidentiality, and also the policy is kept updated and make sure that risks assessments are up to date and in place
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)
PURPOSE
Minimise the risk from the use of substances that may be hazardous to health
YOUR RESPONSIBILITES
Al hazardous substances are locked away in a cupboard, all staff fully trained, and all risk assessments are in place and kept up to date
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) 2005
PURPOSE
Minimise fire hazards
YOUR RESPONSIBILITES
Daily checks of fire exits are free from any obstruction, and weekly fire tests take place, and monthly evacuations are done. I also have check the safety lighting and fire extinguishers.
